Karin Winkelsesser, having been a contributor since early in her career, has since 1998 been the Editor of Buehnentechnische Rundschau (BTR), the German magazine for stage technology, architecture and scenography which was established in 1907From 1984-2004 she worked as coordinator and translator at the German theatre consultants’ firm Biste and Gerling, in Berlin. They undertook a range of big theatre projects, including the Opera de la Bastille in Paris, the Opera House Carlo Felica in Genoa and the Grand Théâtre of Geneva.
In parallel, Karin was part of the management team of OISTAT from 1992 to 2005, working for the headquarter of the organisation and later as an elected member of the Executive Committee. From 2005 to 2008 she served as President of DTHG.
The relationship between art and technology has always been an important focus of her work; international exchange and the establishment of a professional network have always played an essential role in her professional life, including the regular attendance at international conferences, exhibitions and trade shows.
