Louis Janssen is co-founder and creative director of Theateradvies. As a theatre consultant he has been responsible for the design of a great number of new theatres. He also advises on and designs refurbishments of existing buildings.
His design work has been internationally influential; his design of a new cable-free grid deck has become standard in the Netherlands and is gradually gaining use overseas.
Louis has more than 30 years of experience in theatre. He studied Stage Management at The Juilliard School, New York. He is a former stage manager and was technical Director of Toneelgroep Amsterdam, accompanying its productions around the world. As Past President of OISTAT he has access to an international network of architects, technicians, directors, designers and manufacturers. From 1985 to 2000 he was a member of the editorial board for the Dutch trade magazine Zichtlijnen. He has been a member of the board for VPT and Chairman of Stichting Tekening, a database of drawings of all theatres in the Netherlands.
