George Ellerington

George Ellerington

Theatre Consultant, Arup

After graduating from art college, George’s professional theatre career began at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, initially as a stagehand and progressing to technical stage director. He moved on to the National Theatre’s production office, pioneering usage of the new automated stage systems and subsequently joined Theatre Projects Consultants, designing technical systems for theatres and music venues around the globe. George joined Arup in 2004 to help develop theatre consulting within Arup Acoustics. This provided opportunities to pursue his interest in theatre history through work on several heritage buildings. Current projects include a new Shakespearean theatre in the North of England.
