Louise Jeffreys

Louise Jeffreys

Artistic Director, Barbican Centre, London

Louise leads the artistic, marketing and media relations functions at the Barbican and is responsible for the formulation, implementation and delivery of the Barbican's artistic programme and strategic vision.

She was previously Head of Theatre and Arts Projects at the Barbican, establishing and programming BITE (Barbican International Theatre Events) from 1999. BITE became one of London’s most innovative artistic programmes, bringing leading international performers to the UK and co-commissioning some of the most influential artists and productions of the time.

Prior to the Barbican, Louise’s previous roles include Administrative Director at the Nottingham Playhouse, Head of Production at Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, and Technical Director at the English National Opera.

As an ILM level 7 accredited Executive Coach and Mentor she coaches and mentors people in the arts sector. She is Chair of the ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians), and sits on the Boards of Told by an Idiot and English National Opera.
