Mark Wilsher

Director, Set-Up (Scenery) Ltd

15 years on the small-scale touring circuit, and working in well over 150 theatres, seemed like a good grounding to start my own business.  17 years later Set-Up (Scenery) is one of the larger scenery construction companies employing 20-30 staff throughout the year.  Recently we have built Hamilton, Miss Saigon tour, Vanessa (Glyndebourne), Lohengrin (ROH).

Along the way we have developed a few ideas into industry products, the Spikey Washer is approved by the RNT and the Multi Dropper is now the snow machine of choice spreading from America to Australia.

5 years ago we developed our farm buildings into a large Assembly workshop, taking advantage of the chance to fit solar PV panels and a Biomass boiler.  This makes us carbon neutral in terms of heat and power consumption.
